Dr O A Babah
Dr Ochuwa A. Babah is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is an Honorary Consultant in the Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine Unit of the affiliated teaching hospital, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos. She had her medical education at the University of Benin, Edo State. She is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeon and National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. Most of her research focuses on maternal and fetal health, and benign gynaecology conditions basically uterine fibroids and endometriosis. She was the principal investigator (PI) of 2 funded research on the genetics of endometriosis (Year 03 BRAINS Grant Award by Fogarty International in 2018 and Abimbola Aina Omololu-Mulele Research Grant of the University of Lagos in 2019), and a co-PI in a multinational study on household indoor air pollution from cooking fuels (PATS MECOR grant in 2018). In addition, she is a co-investigator in three ongoing clinical trials (PIPSICKLE funded by TETFund, and IVON and IVON-PP funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) on low-dose aspirin in management of sickle cell pregnancy and iron deficiency anaemia treatment during pregnancy and postpartum respectively. She is a mentor to 19 resident doctors (past and present) within her department.
